I suspect a rubber diaphragm may have a hole in it. Dismantling the lower housing surrounding the diaphragm and the several connecting pipes looks pretty tricky without some guidance. I don't need to dismantle the whole thing, just the lower section under the water flow adjustment knob.
If I can get it apart and it is only a rubber diaphragm that needs replacing then I can do it. If it's anything else it will mean a plumber and probably a whole new HWS -which is fine but I want to try the simple DIY fix first. I note in the current user manual fault options that the Hydro generator should be cleaned. The manual has no reference to this procedure. Can you give me instruction to carry this out. The click click of the starter process is not heard now. I have back flushed the unit which appears to be a temporary solution. I have had three service calls in the last 18 months which have cost me more than half the purchase cost of a new 10H. Your appointed technicians had spent most of the time on their mobile to your Bosch technical line. So please don't send me back to this process. Hope you can help. As this is a highly unattractive system we wanted to enclose in with lattace. If you are looking to conceal your unit, we suggest that you would need to make the enclosure out of a non-combustible material that is removable for servicing. Also the enclosure would need to be 500mm clearance to flue terminal. If you need any further assistance, please get in touch with us at 1300 30 70 37 any time between 7:30AM and 6PM (AEDT) on a weekday. Like Report Taryn hollitt asked 1 year ago HydroPower 10H How do I light the pilot light. The ignition for this unit is automatic. If the ignition fails to ignite after 20 seconds, this will trigger a lockout mechanism. In this case, we would suggest that you turn off all hot water taps and try again.
If the unit still doesn't work, then isolate the valves at the unit for 20 seconds, then open the valves and retry. If after this, the unit still fails to ignite, please get in touch with us at 1300 30 70 37 any time from 7:30am to 6pm (AEST), so we can refer you to a Bosch qualified technician. Please be advised that we do recommend that our units are to be serviced at least every two years so your unit may be due for a service. Like Report Molly asked 1 year ago HydroPower 10H I bought a couple of these in 2015 for rental properties. The tenants haven't complained about the water temperature but the other day checking a water leak i notice that one of them has nearly rusted away. The other tenant confirmed that his was also rusty but I haven't checked that one. The rust is really bad, all over the unit, it looks like it won't last the year out. I'm not sure how long the warranty is or what I can do about this but surely they are meant to be outside and they were fitted by someone from the Gas Company who never said they needed cover. This range has a full warranty of two years for parts and labour, and further warranty of 10 years for the heat exchanger part only. The level of corrosion within the time frame you are referring to sounds extreme and not normal. Although we do not know the location of your units, installation in areas near ocean or marine environments will cause premature corrosion of surface coatings. As such, we recommend in our product literature to avoid such installations as it is not covered under warranty. If you require any further information regarding our warranty conditions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team at our toll-free line 1300 30 70 37 (we are available from 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday). We also suggest getting in contact with your gas company regarding this issue. Like Report Molly 1 year ago We polished it up and put a wooden cover on it and it is ok now.
We do live near the beach but the heater is on the other side of the building. Ga an company was no help. Unfortunately, the powder coated steel we use in our units can be affected by the salt content in the air of your environment. A slightly unorthodox method to slow down the corrosion would be to coat the unit in fish oil as a preventative measure. It can also be purchased from your local hardware store. As mentioned, it will not stop the rust from coming back, but it can help to slow down the corrosion. Please also be advised that due to safety concerns, we strongly recommend the removal of the wooden cover as it is a fire hazard. Like Report Mike Lee asked 1 year ago HydroPower 10H I live in a retirement unit. My hot water system is located inside the rear enclosed patio. Is this a safety issue. Based on the brief details you have provided, we believe that this may be unsafe and may have the potential to cause personal injury and property damage. It could also be non-compliant and illegal, which also means that any servicing issues will not be carried out. We highly recommend that you get a second plumber to come out and inspect the installation. The plumber can make sure regulations are met in order to give approval for the unit’s installation. Like Report Mike Lee 1 year ago Thank you so much. I can nowspeak with the village manager regarding this issue. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you require any further support. Like Report John F. asked 1 year ago HydroPower 10H I will shortly be purchasing a Bosch 10H as highly recommended by my Plumber. This wlll replace my Bosch 10P which is 20-plus years old. In poor condition and rusty. Overall used to work well. Has now failed. How does the 10P compare with the new 10H model.
The Bosch Pilot uses a traditional standing pilot light while the Bosch HydroPower uses water movement to create its own small voltage to ignite the water heater. Please be advised that if you switch from a 10P to a 10H, you may notice a slight difference in performance. We would not recommend switching from a 10P to a 13H, for example, as there would be a significant difference in performance and hot water delivery. If you have any further questions, please get in touch with us at 1300 30 70 37 any time from 7:30am to 6:00pm (AEST) during the weekday and our helpful team will be able to assist you further. Like Report John F. 1 year ago Much appreciated Robert. Sounds like there have been some improvements between the two models. Due to ProductReview updating its platform, we have missed some questions that were asked. The yellow flame indicates that there may be some blockages in the burner which is causing poor combustion. One of the causes of blockages are insects blocking burner orifices (which cannot be avoided as adequate air flow is required for complete combustion). The unit will need to be cleaned and to minimise the chance of this issue recurring, a surface type insecticide can be used with care though a consultation with a licensed pest controller is recommended. If you have already adjusted your gas and water controls, it could be a gas supply issue. As we do need more details to more accurately troubleshoot your issue, we recommend that you give us a call at 1300 30 70 37. We are available from 8am to 6pm (AEDT) during the weekday. Like Share More 1 answer Ashy 3 years ago If the flame is yellow and sooting up the heat exchanger it is caused by something inside the burner, probably a mud wasp or spiderweb. Like Report Brenton Carter asked 4 years ago HydroPower 10H hi there I have a bosh10 a well and I have very little water flow at all hot water outlets had pressure checked all good is there a internal filter ?? cheers Like Share More 3 answers JGLS 4 years ago Don't know about internal filter but I had new shower rose in and found TWO water savers in it which made for terrible flow and water going cold. Take them out for starters. If you are happy with a standard temp from all taps move the horizontal flame control to around mid way and the temp control nearer warm than hot.
You will only need to use hot water which saves you money, and pressure should be better with water savers out. There is a little cream plug held in by a metal u shaped clip. If you turn off the water flow then you can pull this bit out and clean the little plastic filter. We look forward to hearing from you. I can light the flame manually with the water running and it will stay lit, only until that tap is turned off. Regards, Jesse. Like Share More 3 answers Leflee 4 years ago Hi Jesse Without having a look at your unit I am guessing that the Hydro generator is faulty. If not faulty there should be a clicking sound and you should be able to see sparking at the ignition point when the water starts to run. The hydro generator is a replaceable unit in the system. Like Report Nick 4 years ago My system wasn't working. Would only heat up occasionally or not at all. The system is about ten years old. Tried everything short of replacing parts or unit. Then thought about age and weather and, above all, surface corrosion. Got some 1200 grit sandpaper from Bunnings ( a nail buffer would do as well ) and cleaned the sparking point and contact. Now it works like new. It might not work for you but if it does its heaps cheaper than any other way to fix it. Also set the gas quite low.
